LondonJazz reader Ivan B has kindly brought to my attention another appearance of the Gareth Lockrane Big Band. The towel rail, according to Bob McKay (or was it Roland Barthes?), is the real name for the bass flute, one of the four instruments Lockrane plays on the gig, while also directing a fabulous band.
The gig is at lunchtime on April 26th from 12.30 till 3pm at Jazz Upstairs at the Manor in Ruislip.
See my review of their last gig. And go. And join all the musicians in the audience. This is the best eight quid you will spend all month!
