Django Centenary Festival – meet the grandson

Django Reinhardt’s grandson David Reinhardt (above) will be just 23 when he opens a centenary festival at the Quecumbar in Battersea on January 17th 2010 .

The first tickets are going on sale on SUNDAY.

More programme details on the Quecumbar’s website here, and we’ll have more to say, with a Gallic shrug… quand cela nous plaira.

  1. Hi
Yes this festival will be a first for London.
LE QUECUMBAR INTERNATIONAL GYPSY SWING GUITAR FESTIVAL – WORKSHOPS & CONCERTS
London’s first Gypsy Swing Guitar Festival

Honouring the 100th Birthday of Gypsy guitar genius Django Reinhardt
    Sunday 17th January – Monday 25th January 2010

    Non profit concerts and workshops
At Le QuecumBar, Battersea, London. http://www.quecumbar.co.uk

These workshops are a rare opportunity to learn and communicate directly from some of World’s finest players of the Django Reinhardt Gypsy Swing/Jazz style.
This festival brings together more workshops of this style than has ever been offered before anywhere worldwide, a chance for musicians to learn from the source with Gypsies and non Gypsy leaders of the style.
Everyone who plays or wishes to play this style will benefit enormously from the cultural exchange of techniques and musical ideas.

This is a major UK event and should be featured in top music magazines as its Djangos 100th Birthday so it will never happen again.
