LJF radio coverage nominated for Sony Radio Award

The radio coverage of the London Jazz Festival has been nominated for the Sony Radio Academy Award for Best Live Event coverage. So, congratulations to:

BBC Radio 3
BBC Scotland
BBC Wales
Unique Production Co
Somethin’ Else for BBC Radio 3
and the fesival’s organizers Serious.

Full details are HERE . The winners will be announced on Monday May 10th.

Television coverage? Only unofficial, so far…. But, hey, Youtube has no fewer than five people’s bootleg uploads of the Sonny Rollins gig.

Surely one of the most comprehensive jazz festivals in the world has a place on national TV. The BBC does, after all, put considerable effort and expense into TV coverage of other festivals.

  1. And also all the venues involved, surely? They also invest in the festival and take risks too, helping to supply some of the radio coverage too by booking and promoting some of the artists then used! Cafe Oto, The Vortex, etc etc
