Photographer Roger Thomas was out at the Dionne Warwick World Hunger Day press briefing last week. She answered questions as to why she is supporting The Hunger Project charity by performing with ‘an all star cast of performers from both sides of the Atlantic in a London charity concert’. The concert will be on 9th January 2011 at the Apollo Theatre Victoria and will also form part of her 70th birthday celebration. (The birthday is on Dec 12th)
Her desire to support the charities she is involved with stems from her upbringing and close relationship with her grandfather. He was a Baptist minister and encouraged her and other family members to form groups that would go out to hospitals and elderly members of the community to help out in various ways and would often tell her that when God put people on the earth it was purposely so they can help other people. She was about 11 years old at the time and has been doing so up till now, whenever possible, so it is a very natural thing for her to be involved and use her celebrity status to help others.
Sitting with her at the press briefing and also giving information and answering questions were Tim Holder Country Director–The Hunger Project UK and Åsa Skogström Country Director–The Hunger Project Sweden.

I am sure she is doing all she can to help which is much more than most other high profile celebs not to mention age, I think she is FAB and this is a well worthy cause.
I echo the above comment and more. It will be a wonderful opportunity to see this truly great artiste in London and I salute her dedication to such a great cause. Dionne is a one off and I adore her.
