Sad to hear that drummer/bandleader Eric Delaney died on Friday at the age of 87. Lance Liddle has written an obituary. He was playing, bright as a button, at one of the first brunches at Ronnie’s with Digby Fairweather last March.

I was so saddened to hear the news of Eric's passing.
My father was a month older than Eric and, as an amature drummer, a great fan who followed his career.
When I began learning percussion, Dad proudly took me to see one of Eric's concerts. I was in awe of him, particularly as he took time out to chat to me about my hobby.
Many family holidays were taken in & around Blackpool, just so Dad and I could go to the Tower Ballroom each night. We never tired of watching him perform, and he always found time to sit and chat and encourage me with my percussion studies.
Eric was genuinely saddened to hear of my father's death in 1992.
I hope the two of them are finally performing drum duets together…something my Dad always dreamed of.

Really saddened to hear the news about Eric. My dad (Vince Bovill) was a tenor sax player with Eric from about 1956 – 1960. Over the years both myself and my dad have had contact with Eric – gigs etc. 3 years ago I met Eric at the Sunderland International Airshow. A 'reunion' was arranged at the Board Inn in Sunderland where some fascinating discussion took place along with photographs with Eric, Dad, Son Vince (Bovill jnr – Really saddened to hear the news about Eric. My dad joked about how Eric and himself might be the last survivors of the band.My dad is still alive and was obviously shocked to hear the news. He often tells me stories about the tours with Eric – great listening. I will try to put the photos on relevant sites and provide a link. On a personal note I have dvd's / cd's and hopefully some 'collector' records of Eric which I love listening to.
God Bless and regards to the family
