Nigel Kennedy normally plays FAR larger venues than the 110- capacity Vortex. His Bach meets Fats Waller project will next be heard here at the Royal Fesitval Hall on 15th September, but it received a first London outing at the Vortex this week. We’re hearing tales of an amazing evening, which ended up with the violinist Thomas Gould who leads the Aurora Orchestra – (both above) with Polish guitar hero Jarek Smietana, drummer Krzysztof Dziedzic and bassist Yaron Stavi keeping the temperature high till after midnight.

It was a wonderful evening…
This was the first public performance before the Far East Tour and then I shall go to the Royal Festival Hall in September 2012 to hear the final show of Nigel and Jarek Smietana and friends (after the Far East Tour).
We were there and it was so good we didn't notice we had missed the last train and didn't care.
Lucky audience, they got to experience Thomas Gould's violin! Awesome!
