Julian Siegel writes:
I’m really looking forward to the four upcoming Julian Siegel Quartet gigs in May (Cheltenham May 20th, Brighton May 25th, Much Wenlock May 26th, Pizza Express Dean Street London May 29th.)
We’ll be playing music from the album ‘Urban Theme Park‘ (Basho 2011) Whenever any musician gets the opportunity to play their music with a great band it’s a really exciting prospect. Liam Noble on piano and synthesiser, Oli Hayhurst – Double Bass and Gene Calderazzo– Drums – individually and collectively bring something really special to the group. Over the last couple of years the Quartet has been playing a lot together and I hope that’s coming across to audiences. The band was included in the Brit Jazz Tour of Germany and Austria in March 2011, and I think that two weeks, playing every night, took the music somewhere else.

Since then we’ve been on the road around the UK for the first Jazz Services tour with this particular line up. So I’m looking forward to seeing in which direction the music goes next time we play. The compositions are just a starting point and the interplay that’s developed between the band members means that anything can happen on the gig. Should be a lot of fun!
Hope to see you on the road, Julian
