JAZZ+JAPAN – Tohoku Earthquake Fundraiser on Thurs Aug 30th

On Thursday the 30th of August 2012, JAZZ+JAPAN in conjunction with AID FOR JAPAN will present a concert of Japanese inspired jazz music (along with a few standards) to help raise money for Japanese children orphaned by the Tohoku Earthquake and tsunami in March 2011

The concert starts at 7:30pm, costs £8 and features Taeko Kunishima on piano. Renato D’Aiello on tenor sax and Emiliano Franco on drums. The support act being Shin-ichiro Abe on bass and Yuko Yokoi playing compositions by Mariam Takahashi who will also guest on piano.

There are currently 350 children who have been orphaned by the disaster, the youngest of them being 1 year old. It is the hope of AID FOR JAPAN to be able to support the child until it reaches it’s 20th birthday. The organisers are hoping to make this an annual event.
