Saxophonist Joe Wright (joewrightmusic.co.uk) writes…

On the 11th December 2012 three contrasting but inter-connected new bands will be performing in the intimate Gallery Cafe in Bethnal Green.

* Nightjar is a band I formed with Alice Zawadzki (violin/voice), Jeff Spencer (bass), and James Maddren (drums). We’re tying together my love of experimental electronic/acoustic music, jazz and classical music alongside early influences from folk, pop and other vocal music. I have written songs about stories, people and things that have moved me.

* I saw Catriona Price (violin/voice) and Alex Roth (guitar/electronics) perform in September as part of an event hosted by Pop-Up Circus. Their set had a wonderful mix of folk sounding songs with improvised/solo sections, electronic textures from Alex, and beautiful melody and counterpart in the voice, violin and guitar. The duo’s debut single Light Show will be released at the end of 2012.

*In between, Alex Roth and I will also play a short duo set  –  free-form improvisation, electro-acoustic soundworlds.

This is each band’s last gig of 2012.
