Foote’s old premises in Golden Square, |
Music Industry Professional (mi-pro.co.uk) reports that Chas E. Foote’s, the musical instrument store founded n 1920, has been saved by the intervention of Nick Mason of Pink Floyd, in collaboration with Rob Wilson, the store’s sales director. The store is no longer at Golden Square in Soho – those premises closed on 31st October. The store has already moved to 41 Store Street Bloomsbury. Mason has explained the value of such stores, and his reason for getting involved thus: “It’s more than an opportunity to buy an instrument. There’s an opportunity to catch up with any new ideas from the manufacturers, new sounds that you simply can’t appreciate online and, of course, to talk drums and equipment with an expert.” The full report is here. Footes are on Facebook, a page which carries special deals.

Hugely heartening though sign of times. Know it very well. Have often bought there. Used to have a great sec hand cymbal store.
