  1. There are actually four series in all. Ronnie Scott presented the last two, while Series One was hosted by Annie Ross and Series Two by George Chisholm.

    There's a lot of good stuff in them all (George Coleman, Bob Brookmeyer, Stan Tracey, Kenny Wheeler and Johnny Griffin to name but a few). Unfortunately the programmes were slightly too early in the 80s to document the wave of good young performers who emerged in that decade. It would have been good to have had some early footage of Tommy Smith, Brian Kellock or their southern contemporaries.
