News: New Album From Jamie Cullum – Momentum

Jamie Cullum is set to release his sixth album called Momentum on the 20th of May 2013 on Island Records. The album sees Cullum taking a slightly new approach; he used home recordings as blueprints for most of the tracks and also utilised iPhone apps, charity shop keyboards and and cassette recorders as compositional aids. The first single will be Everything you Didn’t Do, released on the 12th May.

The main theme running through Momentum is growth and getting older whilst still being unsure of yourself. Cullum explains:

“The album is about that crossover period from youth into adulthood where you still have one foot in each you start to understand the world in such a different way and see things more as they are – both ugly and beautiful. You’re caught between that fresh sense of the wider picture whilst still battling those same old issues within your own head…Have I done enough? Have I achieved all that I thought I would? What about everything I didn’t do?”

Jamie will also be playing a headline show in London at Heaven on 3rd April.
