Job Opportunities: General Manager and Business Development and Fundraiser Consultant at NYJC



The National Youth Jazz Collective have announced that they are seeking two people to fill two newly available positions of ‘Freelance Interim General Manager’ and Business Development and Fundraiser Consultant. They are both fixed term contracts from April 2013 to March 2014.

From the General Manager Job Description:

“National Youth Jazz Collective (NYJC) (aka ‘the Collective’) is looking for an experienced General Manager with a proven track record to support our work in delivering a national programme of high-quality jazz provision for 8-18 year olds. This is delivered through our national network of regional hubs providing a natural progression onto our more competitive inspiring National Youth Jazz Collective Summer School (offering 30 places by audition) and high level post summer school performance opportunities. We provide these at national level stages in festivals and world-class performances platforms such as London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall at Southbank Centre, the Barbican and Symphony Hall, Birmingham.

This is a new post for the NYJC following the appointment of Issie Barratt, the Collective’s founder, into the new leadership role as the organisation’s chief executive and artistic director. The General Manager will report to the Chief Executive and is part of the Senior Management Team (SMT). This is a pivotal leadership role from an operations delivery perspective, both internally and externally-facing.”


From the Business Development and Fundraiser Consultant Job Description:

“Following the appointment of Issie Barratt, the Collective’s founder, into the new role as the organisation’s chief executive and artistic director, NYJC is looking for an individual (s) with the ability to work collaboratively, with strong income generation and fundraising skills backed up with a knowledge of/experience in the jazz music scene, to lead the development of and delivery of a diversified portfolio income action plan in close consultation with the NYJC team. The consultant(s) role will be considered part of the Senior Management Team (SMT) and will report to the Chief Executive.”
