Joanna Eden writes about her new project Jazz at the Movies and the band’s show tonight (15th March 2013. 9:30pm) at Boisdale of Canary Wharf.

Jazz at the Movies is a wonderful band of the cream of British jazz musicianship; Mick Hutton on bass, Chris Ingham on piano, Frank Griffith on sax and George Double on drums. The repertoire speaks for itself; movie classics like Wives & Lovers, He’s a Tramp, To Sir With Love, We Have All the Time in the World, Speak Low and many more. In just 18 months we have sold-out at Ronnie Scott’s, performed to Dame Cleo Laine and a packed house at The Stables and headlined many of the UK’s leading jazz clubs and festivals.

This band gives me a chance to change roles because I usually play piano but in this group I get to stand out front in glamorous frocks and unleash my inner diva on epic songs like From Russia With Love, The Summer Wind and Alfie.

I can’t wait to return to the gorgeous Boisdale Canary Wharf. It makes me think Andy Warhol meets a Scottish Castle! Last time I was there, we did a live broadcast for Jazz FM and it’s great to bring Jazz at the Movies to one of my favourite venues.

People just can’t get enough of those classic melodies and Boisdale is the perfect glamorous, sophisticated city location for our music. Come along and hear it for yourself!!
