Harold Sanditen, host of the new open mic at Crazy Coqs, writes…

The Crazy Coqs in Brasserie Zédel in Sherwood St. by Piccadilly Circus is quickly turning into one of the hottest new music rooms in London, hosting an international mix of jazz and (dare I say the word…) cabaret artists. The latest event to be put on the calendar is a weekly open mic night, hosted by…me.

The excitement starts on Thursday, 18th April, and will take place every Thursday thereafter. Sign-ups are taken at 10 pm, with the music running from 10.30 pm until midnight. The cover charge is just £5.

We have a gorgeous Yamaha baby grand piano with Michael Roulston at its helm, and Jonty Fisher on bass. They’re versed at jazz, pop, rock, theatre, even light opera. I want to create a fun and exciting evening where everyone feels free to perform. It’s the eclectic mix of styles that will make for a truly electric evening.

The open mic will provide a nurturing environment for musicians and singers to test new work in front of an audience, as well as a great evening of entertainment for audiences, who will have the chance to catch that proverbial ‘rising star’ or see an existing star, in what is arguably the most beautiful new music room in town.
