Jim Hart previews Cloudmakers Trio – Crypt Camberwell – Saturday June 15th

JIM HART WRITES:

I’m really pleased to be playing at one of London’s most atmospheric and exciting jazz venues with my Cloudmakers Trio – with Dave Smith and Michael Janisch. It will be our first gig in London for a while and I’m looking forward to presenting some brand new music to a London audience as well as tunes we have been touring quite a lot that have developed since we last played in town.

We have been playing quite a lot lately elsewhere and the band is feeling great. I’m happy we managed to get this gig in before Dave Smith goes away again with Robert Plant!

I’m also really looking forward to being back at the Crypt, underneath St.Giles Church, Camberwell. This really buzzing venue has always been one of my favourite places to play in London and I’m very pleased that it is reopening after a couple of years of closure. It is back in the hands of Jazz Umbrella who first started putting on Jazz at the Crypt in 1995.

The first gig will be Jean Toussaint on Friday the 14th June and we will play the following night as part of Jazz Umbrella’s jazz percussion festival. This is also all happening during Camberwell Arts Festival so hopefully lots of people will be out in search for a great place to hear some new music and enjoy themselves.

For those who know the Crypt and have seen gigs down there before, I’m sure this will come as good news. For those who haven’t had the pleasure before, I can strongly recommend this venue as a great night out and it always makes for a really great gig. And if you haven’t caught Cloudmakers yet then I can highly recommend that too! Hope to see you down there.
