Emily Davidson’s Funeral March |
This Thursday (6th June 2013. Doors at 6:00pm), at St George’s Bloomsbury (WC1A 2HR ) the Jazz Warriors International in collaboration with author Bonnie Greer will host the ONE WORLD concert which celebrates the late Emily Wilding Davidson, the Suffragette who died after a collision with the King’s horse on the racetrack at the Epsom Derby whilst protesting for universal suffrage. This year is the centenary of her death and the concert will be held at the same church as her funeral.
The evening will be a mixture of jazz, free improvisation and contemporary classical music and will feature: Elizabeth Ball (violinist and leader of Nigel Kennedy’s Orchestra of Life), Fumi Okiji a vocalist who specialises in free improvisation, violinist Omar Puente, and pianist Pat Thomas who is fresh off performing at Robert Mitchell’s Leftitude festival and the recent Mopomoso tour.
Tickets are £10 on the door, £8 for advance bookings, and £6 concessions
