Allison Neale previews her quartet’s performance at St James Studio on 17th July.
I would like to alert jazz fans to my gig at the St James Studio on Wednesday 17th July at 8pm, a tribute to one of my biggest influences, the great West Coast altoist Art Pepper, feature my all-new Quartet lineup. We have one of our great and most swinging pianists Leon Greening, in the tradition of Bud Powell and Bobby Timmons, the wonderful Julian Bury on bass and top bebop drummer Steve Brown,; first choice of US tenorist Scott Hamilton and pianist Benny Green. All three are among the finest, most swinging UK musicians on the UK straight-ahead scene.
I am particularly looking forward to this gig as it is a relatively new venue and a lovely space to play and also listen to music with a great atmosphere. As a jazz artist and specialist in today’s current climate where it is far from easy to launch and promote new ventures, it is great to have the privilege to play the music I love at the St James Studio and feel it is really deserving of the support of our jazz community. See you there I hope!
