The programme charts the story of graphic scores from John Cage’s Water Music, and George Crumb’s Makrokosmos to music by Pulitzer Prize winner Wadada Leo Smith (Luminous Axis), Cornelius Cardew’s Treatise, Jenifer Walshe’s fantastically named THIS IS WHY PEOPLE O.D. ON PILLS/AND JUMP FROM THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE the score to which is printed on a t-shirt and requires performers to skateboard, and more.

Throughout the tour, the concerts will be accompanied by illustrated talks by Theresa Sauer from the Notations 21 project (which was the inspiration for the tour) and the tour will feature several works from former composer/artist Tom Phillips (who will be making an appearance at the Southampton and London concerts).
