Preview: As Alike as Trees Festival and Workshops at Café Oto. 1-2 October

David O’Connor Writes:

In 2011, Eddie Prévost, Jennifer Allum and myself, organised the first As Alike As Trees improvised music festival at the Rag Factory in East London. This event sought to promote and present the diversity of musicians who have attended the weekly improvised music workshop Prévost first ran in 1999, alongside featuring musicians who have connections, historically or creatively, with some of the workshop’s alumni.

This October the festival finds a new home in Café Oto and celebrates 14 years of an improvised music workshop. Although most of the musicians are UK based and have some history and tenure with the workshop, we are pleased to have Pascal Battus and the ensemble Hubbub, both from France, joining us. Prévost himself will feature on both evenings; Saturday with AMM and on the Sunday, the first performance from Atmospheric Disturbance, a jazz-inflected improvising ensemble he instigated earlier in the year.
