Rob Edgar spoke to composer/guitarist Alex Roth about his new, multi-faceted stage-show “Arvoles Lloran por Lluvia” which runs at the Battersea Mess and Music Hall from 8-10 October.

Alongside the music, the show features dance and digital media, and showcases the little-known strand of Jewish Sephardic music (distinct from Klezmer). Sung in the Ladino language, the show forms a narrative of love, loss, yearning, migration and defiance.

The music will be performed live on stage by electro-acoustic chamber ensemble Sefiroth.
