We have started to work co-operatively with the French site Citizen Jazz, the first idea being to publish stories from each other which may be of interest to the other site’s readers. The first story from them which we covered was the appointment of a new Artistic Director (Olivier Benoit) at the Orchestre National de Jazz, and they have reciprocated.
In our conversations with their editors I was curious to find what gets read and looked at on Citizen Jazz and, as of last week, their weekly Monday newsletter now contains this information, and updates it daily.
MOST-READ IN THE PAST WEEK ON CITIZEN JAZZ
1) Most-read in the week to Moday has been Citizen Jazz’s excellent coverage of the appointment at the ONJ of Olivier Benoit
2) Second most-read has been a CD review: Chut! by trumpeter Fabrice Martinez with a band including the pianist Frédéric Escoffier. Taster of the album on Youtube here.
3) In third place a photo-reportage, by editor Helene Collon, from the Festival Vague de Jazz (wave of jazz) which took place at the end of July in the Atlantic (Vendée) towns of Longeville-sur-Mer and Les Sables d’Olonne, both with miles of stunning beaches. The picture above of bassist/ vocalist Elise Dabrowski and accordionist Vincent Peirani (we reviewed his last CD, Thrill Box on ACT Music) forms part of that set.
