PREVIEW: Ben Sidran at Ronnie Scott’s October 30th-31st

Adam Sieff is looking forward to hearing Ben Sidran at Ronnie Scott’s:

Whenever the pianist, vocalist (and also producer, writer and award-winning radio host) Ben Sidran performs in London it’s an event to savour. On this trip, his quartet’s two nights at Ronnie Scott’s, which will kick off their European tour, marking Sidran’s 70th birthday, are particularly highly anticipated: there was a particularly good response to his recent album (he’s made more than thirty) ‘Don’t Cry For No Hipster’.

Sidran will be accompanied by his son Leo on drums (also ‘Hipster’s’ producer), his long time associate Billy Peterson on bass and ex-midwesterner and now Copenhagen resident Bob Rockwell on saxophone. Looking forward to a couple of evenings of smart, original compositions including repertoire from the fine ‘Dylan Different’ album, and hopefully, Sidran’s classic ‘A Good Travel Agent’.

While in London, Sidran will also be talking about his book ‘Jews, Music and the American Dream’ at the Jewish Museum on Sunday 27 October at 3pm
