Podcast: Cafe Oto/ Servant Jazz Quarters / Vortex interview, previewing INTERSECT (Sat. Dec. 7)

INTERSECT – Interview with the Dalston Venues by LondonJazz

We interviewed:

Lucy Jamieson (Vortex)
– Hamish Dunbar and John Chantler (Café Oto)
Alice Passey (Servant Jazz Quarters)

who all gathered around a table at the Vortex to talk to us about Intersect on Saturday 7th December.

This is an event for which the three Dalston venues, a short distance from each other, have combined. They talk about their venues, the origins of the project, and the collaborative spirit in which they are working on this “extended evening of adventurous music”.

The festival features Twin Tuba Doom, cellist Oliver Coates (who plays in all three venues and will launch a new album), Julie Kjær and Rachel Musson (in a trio with Steve Noble) and many more.

Music Excerpt:

[08:35] Free improvisation by Julie Kjær/ Rachel Musson Duo a from a session recorded in July 2012, by kind permission of both musicians.

Julie Kjaer, Rachel Musson

One ticket (£5 in advance – £8 on the door) gives admission to all the concerts in the festival across five stages at the three venues, and running from 4:00pm to 2:00am. More information and tickets HERE
