Wynton Marsalis

The Barbican Centre has just announced new their new concert dates for 2014, which include: the third residency of Jazz at the Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis. The residency “which will now become annual”  and – in 2014 – includes a concert celebrating the 75th anniversary of Blue Note Records (2 July) and a creative learning collaboration with the Guildhall school to source players for a new East London Big Band.

There is also a collaboration with Sachal Jazz Ensemble: a masterful group of musicians from Pakistan whose deep knowledge of their own rich musical history inform their interpretations of jazz standards. This video is of JLCO and Sachal working together at Marciac in August 2013. Sachal Jazz Ensemble will be in Kings Place Hall One on Nov 27th and 29th.
