Alyn Shipton says, towards the end of  Saturday’s Jazz Record Requests, a fine and moving tribute to Stan Tracey:

“Right up until his final illness, Stan was producing music as profound and as beautifully crafted as anything in his long. career [..] All our lives will be the poorer for the passing of such a vital and creative force in the music.”

  1. I loved the music of Stan. As a very young man I saw him many times in London where I grew up at Ronnies. Stan was a a giant in British and world jazz. Rest in Peace Stan and thank you for enriching so many lives. Bill Street. Vancouver Canada.
