The Crazy Coqs room at Brasserie Zedel |
The splendid Crazy Coqs room at Brasserie Zedel becomes a new jazz hang for late Friday and Saturday nights starting on Friday 28th February. Admission will be £10. Music through till midnight.
I’ve been asked to host one Friday night a month, and have responded to the invitation by setting up the LondonJazz TransLATES series, which will feature singers – for at least part of the evening – singing in their mother tongue, and I will be doing some translating. (Fuller description of the concept below.)
Here are all the dates through to the end of April:
Fri Feb 28th Natalie Williams with Ian Shaw
Fri Mar 7th Judy Carmichael
Sat Mar 8th Judy Carmichael
Mar 21st David Newton, Andrew Cleyndert and Colin Oxley – Out of this World

Fri Apr 18th Hailey Tuck
Sat Apr 19th Remi Harris
Fri Apr 25th Noemi Nuti (LondonJazz TransLATES series)
LondonJazz TransLATES: a monthly series on Friday nights, starting at 10.30pm. Each session of the series celebrates the directness of expression and communication that vocalists can achieve when performing songs in their mother tongue. Think of the series as hassle-free travel for people who don’t have the time to plan, or to take a weekend away. Order a drink, house lights down, and you’re taken – in the mind- straight to a foreign country and connected directly to the emotional heart of a different culture.
