On the 24th of June, Matt Skelton’s new project Close To You, Celebrating Sinatra & The Hollywood String Quartet, will be performed at Pizza Express Jazz Club by the Tippett Quartet, Callum Au (trombone), Matt Ford (vocals), James Pearson (piano), and Hugh Webb (harp).

The show takes especially commissioned transcriptions of the classic 1956 Sinatra album, ‘Close To You’ as it’s centrepiece with additional newly arranged material unique to our handpicked ensemble. You’d recognise almost the entire ensemble as players from The John Wilson Orchestra. Matt Ford is singing accompanied by the combination of a jazz contingent lead by James Pearson with the dynamic Tippett Quartet along with harpist Hugh Webb.
I believe that it’ll be the first time that Close To You will have been performed in a concert format, at least in the UK.
