PREVIEW: BABs and Tricko at Lumen WC1 – 24th July

On Thursday 24th July a double bill of Tricko and BABs will take place at  Lumen URC, near Kings Cross. Tricko is the duo of Kit Downes and Lucy Railton, playing Kit’s compositions, and BABs is the trio of James Allsopp (clarinets), Alex Bonney (laptop) and Olie Brice on double bass.

Olie Brice writes:

Tricko is a fairly new project which I’ve not yet had an opportunity to hear live, but they recently released a track online called Alliri that’s one of the most beautiful pieces of new music I’ve heard in a while – have a listen HERE.

BABs has been going a bit longer, but we only gig sporadically, in fact our last London gig was in January 2012. So this is a rare opportunity to catch us! To whet the appetite, this is what happened last time we met in a church. ON VIDEO

I’ve been wanting to organise this double bill for a while – although we sound nothing like each other I think the two bands have something in common. Compared to many of the projects we’re all involved in both of these bands seem to focus on magnifying details that might not be so apparent in other contexts. And in Lumen I think I’ve found the perfect venue for the evening, a gorgeous acoustic and a beautiful setting.

LUMEN is at the United Reform Church,: 88 Tavistock Pl, London WC1H 9RS . Note the early start time – 7.30 doors, music at 8pm.
