Fishwick/Basile/Roberts in NYC
Following the success of our last album When Night Falls , which we recorded in 2013, we’re very pleased to have been invited (by great trumpeter and curator, Jeremy Pelt) to play this year at Dave Douglas’ Festival of New Trumpet Music (FONT).
I’ll be appearing, along with Osian Roberts and Frank Basile, at Smoke Jazz Club on the 18th September with my brother Matt Fishwick on drums and two top tier American musicians- Jeb Patton on piano (Etta Jones, James Moody, Frank Wess, Heath Brothers) and Mike Karn on bass (Ray Charles, Harry Connick Jr, Junior Mance, Harold Mabern).
Whilst we are in the city there we’re hoping to record a new CD featuring new original music that Osian, Frank and I have written since touring the UK last February.
We’ve launched a Kickstarter campaign (all-or-nothing) to try and fund the recording.
We’ll also be playing the late show at Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola all of that week (16th-20th) where we’re very much looking forward to reuniting with the irrepressible Michael Mwenso.
On the 21st September we’ll be appearing at Small’s, a club I’ve spent many happy nights listening but never playing so it will be a very nice experience to finally play a gig there.
Please check out the Kickstarter page, with Osian Roberts’ video introduction to the project. If you happen to be in NYC in September then we hope to see you there!
