Narcissus |
Pianist Pete Lee has managed to keep his pop and jazz candles burning as brightly as ever. Narcissus is the product of his ability to merge pop and jazz in the most exciting way with a group of musicians well-versed not only in improvisation but groove, precision and energy.
Narcissus were chosen by Young & Serious to play at The Queen Elizabeth Hall as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival 2013. Most Recently they performed to a packed audience at The Vortex Jazz Club in January 2014, and Pizza Express Jazz Club, Dean Street in March 2014.
Apparent from the name Narcissus and composition titles, the music is themed around psycho-analysis, mental awareness and human behaviour.
Their gig at The Pheasantry contains a slightly different line up with George Crowley on saxophone and special guest vocalist Alice Zawadzki. Pete says, “I play for Alice in her band, which is set to tour extensively throughout 2015. We recently played her album launch at Pizza Express Dean Street, which sold out two nights running. I’m really excited to see how my Narcissus guys treat some of her material. We will be playing original music composed by myself and Alice.”
The band comprises:
Pete Lee – Keyboards/Piano
Alice Zawadzki – Vocals
George Crowley – Saxophone
Tom Varrall – Guitar
Huw Foster – Bass
Ali Thynne – Drums
