Jeanie Barton writes about a new jazz festival to be held at Bartons’ in Nottingham
Nottingham is soon to host a new jazz festival in an historic bus depot!
NOT the Montreux Jazz Festival on 24th-25th October this year will, all being well, be the first annual jazz festival held at Bartons’ event venue on High Rd, Chilwell, near Beeston, Nottingham.
I am lucky enough to have been approached by the venue along with Beeston JazzClub co-founder and drummer Ian Beestin to book the acts and make sure it is excellent.
We have an eclectic and energetic line-up featuring established and rising stars as well as a showcase for the local swing dance and vintage loving groups. A licensed bar as well as hot food and drinks stalls will be on site.
Tickets are now available online – links are via this blog that contains video previews of the acts they can also be bought at Beeston JazzClub, held the first Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm, at The Star, Middle Street, Beeston, Nottingham. The next gig is 1st October, Simon Spillett with The BohoP Trio).
So get a ticket, bring your dancing shoes and let’s party like it’s 1949!
