PREVIEW: Mike Walker writes about the Impossible Gentlemen Tour (Jan-Feb 2015)

The Impossible Gentlemen L-R: Gwilym Simcock,
Steve Rodby, Mike Walker, Adam Nussbaum

Guitarist Mike Walker talks about his upcoming tour as part of The Impossible Gentlemen:

Very excited to be touring and recording these next 2 months. We’re all over the UK in Jan and Feb, squeezing in a couple of gigs abroad, Munich and Budapest, as well as a recording for our third album. Then we concentrate on Europe in March.

Gwilym Simcock and I have been scribbling away together and come up with some fun stuff, about 15 new tunes in all. When we get together, initially at my house, then a few days at his, it’s very productive.

We work hard, laugh hard, have posh mince pies and good wine and curries with good people. It’s a very creative process. Improvisation underpins the whole affair, and we’re getting better at fashioning pieces, working them into interesting vehicles for improvisational interplay, specifically with the other members of the group Adam Nussbaum on drums and Steve Rodby on bass in mind. Gwil has new keys he’ll play alongside Piano, and I have a new beautiful guitar I just acquired. We also have surprises in store for the new album, so it’s all way too exciting. I’m getting hot flushes just thinking about it.
