Ralf Dombrowski writes from Munich:
Here are a few photos from last night (Thursday Feb 5th 2015) when the New York-based, Berlin-born saxophonist Charlotte Greve presented her New York quartet (Keisuke Matsuno, guitar, synths), Simon Jermyn, bass and Tommy Crane, drums, playing material from their new album Wood River (Edition Longplay) at Unterfahrt.
Powerful, urbane, sometimes darkly complex. It also had considerable rock appeal, especially as music conceived through the role of the guitar. Greve’s top-flight New-York band provided the context for her strengths as a versatile composer and as an alto saxophonist with a subtly distinctive character and sound to shine through.
