Sebastian writes:
A celebratory cake, a brief speech from label boss Alya Marquardt, plus a lot of goodwill (and people) in the room, and the deed was done. Last night March 4th 2015 saw the launch of a new label Two Rivers Records and the release of two of its first three albums:
– Live at the Ridgeway – Calum Gourlay (solo bass)
– the debut CD of Tobias Delius/ Olie Brice / Mark Sanders

We interviewed Calum about his album HERE
The common thread around these albums is not stylistic, but the scale. Both projects have been performed at the house concerts which Alya Marquardt runs in her Clerkenwell flat. The third of the three albums in the initial batch of releases will be her own: Chai Party by her band Alula celebrates her Iraqi heritage and was recorded in New York, featuring Amina Figarova on piano. The launch will again be at the Vortex on April 6th.
The two rivers are the Tigris and the Euphrates: Alya is British-Iraqi. Forthcoming releases will also include an album from Snowpoet (Lauren Kinsella/Chris Hyson). The current aim is to release seven to eight albums a year. As Oliver Weindling said presenting the cake to Alya Marquardt..Welcome!
