Malaika

The three UK artists who will be participating in Jamie Cullum’s BBC Introducing showcase at the Montreal International Jazz Festival in july have been announced. They are:

–   Malaika (Shaw) , a Singer/songwriter from Ireland with African/Irish roots. She will be with her band Dan Hudson, Jack Chandler and Leon Johnson.

–  Mammal Hands from Norwich – Nick Smart piano, Jesse Barrett drums and percussion, and Jordan Smart saxophones.

–  Peter Edwards Trio. Peter won the Newcomer award this year at the Parliamentary Jazz Awards. His trio is with Max Luthert and Moses Boyd.
