Drummer/percussionist Pedro Segundo, who is always in huge demand as a sideman by people/ensembles as diverse as the Ronnie Scott’s All-Stars, singer Judith Owen, the Dennis Rollins Velocity Trio, the Kansas Smittys or the Academy of St Martin in the Fields,….has been developing his first project as leader, a new 75-minute live solo drums and percussion show, which he explains in the video above.

According to to press release, just out, the show will “pay respect to traditional and world music drumming styles as well as introducing audiences to the world of contemporary solo percussion music; from traditional Indian and African drumming through to Xenakis, improvisatory jazz, John Cage and newly commissioned works from Goncalo Gato and Dave Maric.” It will also celebrate his parents’ Mozambican heritage

Solo Segundo premieres at St James Studio on the 25th September 2015 before a residency there as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival in November.

Pedro Segundo has received support from the City Music Foundation.
