It's a shame that the wizzo new stage lights at the Vortex result in blue photographs.
I think we should add that this was a wonderful evening of music. The repertoire consisted entirely of standards, show tunes and jazz standards from Miles, Ellington and Coltrane, but both players did great things wit them and clearly relished the interaction between two great players.
I agree with Tony, it was an outstanding evening. I hope this was just the start of a long-term relationship. These two exceptional musicians are clearly made for one another. The only thing that spoilt my enjoyment was the man with a camera who sat at the front taking photographs for the entire evening. His constant shuffling about and the shutter noise were unwelcome distractions.
Graham, Victor was aware of how tricky it would be, and I know he tried hard not to disrupt. I wanted to ensure that this important occasion received some coverage, and Victor's photos – I hope you agree – provide a vivid record of it.
