Two of the major UK jazz festivals have announced their big name artists for 2017. Cheltenham Jazz Festival now has its full programme up online while Love Supreme has added a second tranche of names to add to those already announced. Vocalists Gregory Porter and Laura Mvula will be performing at both festivals.
Cheltenham’s big jazz names will include legendary drummer Steve Gadd, Benin-born guitarist Lionel Loueke, a new trio project from Polar Bear leader Seb Rochford, Afro-Cuban band Orchestra Baobab, extraordinary Norwegian saxophonist Marius Neset and a solo piano concert by Kit Downes. Among its crossover acts are Jack Savoretti, Will Young, Paul Carrack, Ben Folds and Rick Wakeman.
These names join the already-announced Chick Corea, Snarky Puppy, Chris Potter, Dee Dee Bridgewater and Meshell Ndegeocello among others.
Tickets go on sale to festival members on 22nd February and to the general public on 1st March. The 2017 Cheltenham Jazz Festival runs from Wednesday 26th April to Monday 1st May. For the full line-up go to Cheltenham Jazz Festival.

In addition to Porter and Mvula, Love Supreme has added the Robert Glasper Experiment, trumpeter Christian Scott, jazz-funk duo Yussef Kamaal, vocalist Nao and Canadian quartet Bad Bad Not Good. Saxophonist Shabaka Hutchings will be taking three projects to Love Supreme. The Jacksons will be celebrating their 50th anniversary at the festival.
Already announced for Love Supreme are Herbie Hancock and George Benson.
