NEWS: A new New York Listings/Reviews Initiative from Ethan Iverson: DO THE G!G NYC

Sebastian writes:

An impressive new initiative from Ethan Iverson coincides with his departure from The Bad Plus: DO THE G!G NYC is a new sister site for Iverson’s indispensible blog DO THE M@TH.

The new site, which Iverson edits, has gig schedules and reviews by a younger generation of “musicians on the ground” in New York. The first reviews, all of them highly musically literate, have appeared, and it is an example which is bound to be followed.

In the About/Contact section, Iverson explains the background that has led him to take this step more fully and colourfully, but his aim in brief is: “to help important talent get noticed for the right reasons”.

Best wishes to this exciting and thoroughly worthwhile initiative. As one critic said to me shortly after I started LondonJazz News: “I expect to be cribbing you shamelessly.”
