Peter Bacon reports:Pianist Alex Webb – he of The Copasetic Foundation and well-known for his work with vocalists – has masterminded a new, autumnal series of weekly late-night jazz sessions at the Boulevard Theatre, or “Soho’s newest playhouse” as it bills itself.
The press release promises “the cream of UK vocal talent” and they will be accompanied by Webb on piano, Andy Champion on bass and Pete Hill on drums.
That “cream”, filling the regular Wednesday late-nights up to 18 December, includes the following: David McAlmont, China Moses, Jo Harrop, Vimala Rowe and Anna Ross. And the guests are not only singers: joining McAlmont and the trio for the opening session on 6 November is saxophonist Tony Kofi.
