4th Zbigniew Seifert International Jazz Violin Competition open for entries

Mary James writes:  The fourth Zbigniew Seifert International Jazz Violin Competition will be held in Lusławice, Poland, from 7-10 July 2020. The competition is open to violinists, violists and cellists of all nationalities aged up to 38 years of age, performing jazz and improvised music, including acoustic and electric, with prizes totalling 17,000 euros and a gala concert in Kraków.

The competition is held every two years, and alternates with the Jarek Smietana Jazz Guitar Competition. Zbigniew Seifert (above, 1946-1979) was one of the most outstanding Polish jazz musicians whose untimely death prevented the full development of his musical abilities and curtailed his global career. The idea behind the competition is to promote the musical heritage of Seifert as well as to help young musicians progress onto the international stage. Winners are selected by an international jury.
