“Dick Laurie (Band Leader, Clarinet player, Editor/Journalist, Wit and all round Good Chap…) was an early victim of Covid in April 2020. You might well have spotted a number of distinguished faces from the London swing/mainstream scene, like Digby Fairweather, Alan Barnes, Paul Sealey, Al Nichols, Nils Solberg, Janusz Carmello and Denis Smith, supplemented by a good turn-out of local talent and an audience including many of Dick’s oldest friends from the Half Moon days and earlier.
Not a reply really but a comment from a longtime friend of Dick’s and occasional attendee at those Sunday lunches – occasional because I lived in Dublin. I also was instrumental in getting the band to play in various configurations in Ireland. Marvellous player, splendid band. I attended his “zoom” funeral which was a terrible shock and a very sad affair. Since then I have been unable to contact Anne. Can anyone reading this offer a solution to that.
