The French culture minister Roselyne Bachelot (in the centre of the photo above) awarded seven French female jazz musicians with national honours on Wednesday 30 March 2022:

Saxophonist Géraldine Laurent received the award of Officier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (she is already chevalier)

Saxophonists Sophie Alour, Céline Bonacina, Lisa Cat-Berro, trumpeter Airelle Besson, and drummers Anne  Paceo and Julie Saury received the distinction of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres

The connection between these musicians is that they all play in the Rhoda Scott Lady All Stars. The American organist herself (b.1938) who has been Commandeur  Order of Arts and Letters since 2018, was unable to attend , we understand, because of Covid.

Thank you Laurent Carrier and Lizon Lavaud for help with this news story.
