Programme Announced for Jazzfest Berlin 2022 (3-6 November)

The programme of Jazzfest Berlin 2022 is announced and tickets go on sale this morning. The press release begins:

After the two hybrid festival editions with digital bridges to New York, Johannesburg, Cairo and São Paulo due to the pandemic, Jazzfest Berlin 2022 returns to the resonant physical space of the here and now, and welcomes over 150 musicians from all over the world to the Haus der Berliner Festspiele and surrounding venues from 3 to 6 November.”

UK musicians are prominently featured. Before the festival proper there is a “Kick-Off” evening on 30 October, for which Alexander Hawkins has been given a major commission to be performed in the Boulez-Saal. Later, there are concerts involving – for example – Chelsea Carmichael, Sheila Maurice-Grey, and John Surman (in a trio with Lucian Ban and Mat Maneri)
