Sad to report the death earlier today from cancer of Stan Tracey CBE. Clark Tracey posted this afternon: “Stanley William Tracey passed away peacefully this afternoon. Finally the pain has gone and he can rest in peace.” Sympathies to the family. We have lost a modest, world-class pianist and composer, and one of the finest and most influential jazz musicians this country has produced. John Fordham’s Guardian obituary.

UPDATE: The Stan Tracey Appreciation Society announce: “Stan’s funeral will be held at Golders Green Crematorium, West Chapel at 1pm on December 18th. All are welcome to attend.”
