Christine Jensen joins faculty at Eastman School of Music (Rochester, NY)

Saxophonist/composer Christine Jensen is re-locating…. just over 300 miles to the south-west… from Montreal to Rochester, NY, where she will take a post at Eastman School of Music.

Here is Eastman’s statement, from their Facebook page:

“We are thrilled to welcome new faculty member Christine Jensen!

Relocating from Montreal, Canada composer, arranger, conductor and saxophonist Christine Jensen will be joining us as an Assistant Professor in the Jazz and Contemporary Media department! She has been described as, “an original voice on the international jazz scene… [and] one of Canada’s most compelling composers,” by Mark Miller of the Globe and Mail.

Christine Jensen says: “I am thrilled to join the Eastman community, where I look forward to sharing my passion for jazz composition as well as directing the Eastman Jazz Ensemble. I am excited to be working, teaching and learning with colleagues and students in an inspired place of inclusion and openness.” (Eastman statement ends)

Christine has posted on her own Facebook page: “News: I am honoured and delighted to be able to take on music- making at the highest level at Eastman School of Music with incredible faculty, students and community. New adventures to come! I will still keep my too-big-of- a foot in Canada and especially Montreal. Thank you McGill for the most incredible opportunity of letting me grow as a better musician and teacher, in order to make this step forward.”
