“One of the most unique adventures that I’ve made in the jazz world,” says Gwilym Simcock of his new trio: .

The Wiltshire Music Centre describes this concert – the same line-up is also appearing at Kings Place – as follows:

“WMC favourite Gwilym Simcock is considered one of the most gifted pianists and imaginative composers on the European scene, moving effortlessly between jazz and classical music. In this groundbreaking jazz trio project, he’s joined by Hermine Deurloo on harmonica and Vincent Peirani on accordion –both respected band leaders in their own right. Enjoy an evening of intimate and uplifting music drawn from different genres and featuring specially-written new work.”

Gwilym Simcock writes:

“These two concerts at Kings Place and the Wiltshire Music Centre in Bradford-upon-Avon will be very special occasions for me personally, and indeed one of the most unique adventures that I’ve made in the jazz world. I’m reasonably confident that this particular trio lineup will be instrumentally unprecedented, which makes it an extremely exciting undertaking for the three of us.

“For me personally it combines the two great experiences as a jazz musician – namely getting to share the stage with a great friend, and also to begin a new friendship through the beauty of communal music making. Hermine and I have played many times together over the last few years, both in the U.K. and the Netherlands, whereas Vincent and myself have been distant acquaintances on the European scene. We’ve kept loosely in contact, and when the Carte Blanche opportunity came up to play these concerts, I had the thought that this would be a really great chance to bring together these incredibly interesting instruments to see what we could create together.

“Fans of the European jazz scene will be very familiar with Hermine and Vincent, both great bandleaders and improvisers as well as open-minded collaborators – unique voices on their unique instruments, so I’m extremely excited to present the inception of this musical journey to the audiences in London and Bradford-upon-Avon.”
